Meet
Pastor Laube
Hi!
Thanks for visiting the
Calvary Chapel of Aiken web page. Please let me introduce myself to you. My name is Bob Laube. I was born in 1954 at Fort Jackson, SC. Since my dad was a career army man I lived in many parts of the United States and the world. Growing up during that time period, I embraced the philosophy of the hippy movement: drugs, sex and rock and roll. I pursued these gods from the age of 15 until I gave my life to Jesus at the age of 27. During the summer
of 1980 I decided it was time to find the perfect wife, so I set out for
California to find her. Six weeks after we met in Los Angeles, Carol Chandler
became Mrs. Carol Laube. Upon getting married, I quit pursuing the god
of immoral sex, but not the gods of drugs and rock and roll. I did quit
doing most narotic drugs and instead embraced alcohol to an even greater
level. Because of the extensive years of drug abuse, my brain was so fried
that I started having blackouts after a few drinks. |

A year after we were married, Carol decided she wanted to start going back to church. She was raised Southern Baptist, but I had gone to the Episcopal church only long enough to get confirmed.I knew I couldn't go to a Baptist church because they would tell me I was a sinner in need of Jesus as my Savior, but I thought I could go to an Episcopal church and leave feeing okay about myself. So I told her if she could find an Episcopal church she liked, then I would start going to church with her.God led her straight to an on-fire, Spirit-filled Episcopal church that she loved, so we started to attend. On December 26, 1981, around 7 pm, the Holy Spirit convicted me of my need to give my heart to the lordship of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit gave me such a strong passion for the Word of God that I read the entire Bible in 6 months. During that time he equipped me and called me into the teaching ministry.
In 1987, the Lord raised me up as a co-pastor of the church that is now Calvary Chapel of Aiken. In 1999, I became the pastor of the church. Beginning in 1995, I felt the Lord leading me to go to seminary. In the spring of 2000, I earned a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Biblical Seminary. Carol and I have a wonderful son, Matthew, daughter-in-law Tara, and two precious grandchildren, TJ and Savannah. |
